SHREVEPORT, La. – The LSU Shreveport women's basketball team exemplified one of the Five Core Values of the Champions of Character program, Servant Leadership, on Saturday morning as they helped out with the Red River Revel 5K Run that kicks off the 40th annual Red River Revel event as they put the need of others first waking up early on a Saturday morning.
"Coach Willis and I are very proud of this group," said LSUS women's basketball head coach Valerie Huizar. "They have done a great job of representing our program and our University in the service projects we've done so far. This team has done a great job representing the Five Core Values of the Champions of Character program. This is going to be a fun and exciting year on and off the court."
When running a race nothing can be more refreshing that something to drink or a bite to eat to help get you through the rest of the race. On a cool Saturday morning the LSUS women's basketball team was there to dish out the refreshments to the contestants of the race. But before the race it was the smiling faces of the Pilots basketball team who welcomed the runners and got them registered to enter the event at the check in tent.
