MARSHALL, Tex. – LSU Shreveport Women's basketball team lost for just the second time Red River Athletic Conference action, this time to the Wiley College Wildcats 61-47. The Pilots fall to 17-8 and 12-2 in the RRAC while Wiley improves to 18-5 and 10-4 in the RRAC.
The Pilots shot 44 - percent from the field in the first half to go into halftime up 32-30. The Wiley defense turned it up a notch in the second half holding the Pilots to a 17 – percent clip in the second half.
"Wiley did a good job of contesting every shot," said LSUS coach Curtis Loyd. "But shooting 17 – percent from the field will not win you any games."
The Pilots trailed by single digits for the entire third quarter and the first 4:40 of the fourth quarter. Then fatigue set in and the Wildcats were able to pull away.
"I love this team," said Coach Loyd. "There's no quit in them. Even when we were missing shots we still were trying to be relentless and come back.
"We were really aggressive on defense," said Loyd about the Pilots forcing sixteen turnovers. "But we could not convert," he said as Wiley outscored the Pilots via turnovers 15-6.
