SHREVEPORT, La. – The LSU Shreveport women's tennis team did not have to wait long to rid themselves of the lingering effect from Sunday's loss. Today they toppled the Friends University squad 8-1 at the Southern Hills Tennis Center on a near summer-like afternoon.
The afternoon temperature reached a warm 86 degrees and it apparently heated up the Pilots' rackets as some of the matches were runaways while others were close. Harmony Trax (FR/O'Fallon, Missouri) and Lilly Humphreys (FR/O'Fallon, Missouri) won the no. 1 doubles match by a final of 8-6 while Hannah Alimajstorovic (JR/Shanty Bay, Ontario) and Khelsea Ziesmer (SO/Gulfport, Mississippi) picked up an 8-4 win in the no. 2 match. Christina Elizarov and Anne Puckett (FR/Shreveport, Louisiana) had their hands full with their opponents but they prevailed with set wins of 9-8 and 7-5 to complete the sweep of the doubles matches.
Trax had a competitive head-to-head matchup with Friends' no. 1 player as she needed the extra set to win the no. 1 singles match. Trax won the first set 6-2 but lost the second by the same score before claiming the extra set, 10-2. Humphreys had an easier time claiming a 6-1, 5-3 win while Ziesmer cruised past her opponent 6-0, 6-0. Anne Puckett won the no. 6 singles match 6-4, 6-4.
