TEXARKANA, Tex. – The LSU Shreveport women's soccer head coach Ashley Holland notched her first win as a head coach witht the help of Kati-Jayde Cunningham (JR/Stonewall, Louisiana) and Elizabeth Cobar (JR/Garland, Texas) who scored two goals each as the Pilots dominated the Williams Baptist Eagles 4-1 at the Texas A&M University-Texarkana Soccer Field. The game was moved to the neutral site for the threat of Tropical Storm Harvey.

 

NOTES
LSUS improves to 1-1 on the season while Williams Baptist drops their first game of the season.

"All around this was a great team effort. We played with heart and confidence. From the back with Karolyn making great saves to the back line, to the midfield with Natalie and Mason leading the charge to our forwards Kati-Jayde  and Elizabeth finishing the ball. This is a positive step in the right direction. We can't settle on this win, we have to build from it. I'm proud of the girls for their efforts and the heart they have been putting into the game and the program."

 

STANDOUT PERFORMERS
Kati-Jayde Cunningham led the charge up from for the Pilots as she had the game-highs of six shots, three on-goal and scored two goals.

Mason Richardson (JR/Forney, Texas) ripped four shots including two on-frame while leading the Pilots with two assists.

Karolyn Hasler (FR/Chandler, Arizona) notched her first win of the season with two saves in 90 minutes of action.

Natalie Bianco (JR/Guernsey, England) took four shots including one on-goal while Haley Burke (JR/Forney, Texas) also had one shot on-goal.

 

HOW IT HAPPENED
• The Pilots scored the first goal of the contest as Cunningham put one in the back of the net during the 28th minute after a nice pass from Richardson from the outside.

• Cobar scored an unassisted goal, the second goal of the day for the Pilots in the 44th minute.

• Cunningham scored her second goal of the match and was once again assisted by Richardson to start the second half during the 47th minute.

• Williams Baptist broke through the Pilots defense for their lone goal of the game as Hannah Whitefoot finished the Maria Ramirez pass in the 50th minute.

• Cobar got that goal back scoring unassisted in the 72nd minute.


INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
• The Pilots dominated the Eagles in corner kicks 12-1.

• LSUS led the shot totals 18-7 as they placed nine on frame while WB had three on-goal.
