Brent Lavallee enters his fifth season as a full-time coach for the Pilots Baseball Program and his first as the Head Coach. This will be Coach Lavallee's seventh year overall as a member of the coaching staff at LSU Shreveport as he spent the 2011 and 2012 seasons as the Graduate Assistant.

During his previous four seasons as the Pilots Pitching Coach, his staff garnered top ERA in school history with a 3.09 in 2015 and the third highest of 3.46 in 2014. His 2013 staff set the school record with 15 shutouts. In his seven years at LSUS as a coach, Lavallee has helped the Pilots to an overall record of 270-91 (.747), three regular season conference titles (2011, 2012, 2014), five conference tournament titles (2011, 2012, 2013, 2015, 2016) and two appearances in the Avista-NAIA World Series in Lewiston, Idaho.

Lavallee has coached four players that went on to sign major league deals beginning with Logan Norris (Colorado Rockies in 2013), Jared Mortensen (Tampa Bay Rays in 2013), Jared West (Seattle Mariners in 2015) and Kevin Williams (Tampa Bay Rays in 2016). In addition to the major league contracts nine players have went on to sign professional contracts:

2016-Reed Lavallee-Trois-Rivieres Aigles (Can-Am League)
2015-David Diaz-Rockford Aviators (Frontier League), Vaqueros de la Laguna (LMB)
2014-Ridge Gonsoulin-Las Vegas Train Robbers (Pecos League)
2014-Caleb Olson-Las Vegas Train Robbers (Pecos League)
2013-Kyle Pearson-Ft. Worth Cats (American Association), Team USA (Men’s Slow Pitch)
2012-Brandon Cooksey-Bisbee Blues, Taos Blizard, Garden City Wind (Pecos League)
2012-Matt Lackie-Amarillo Sox (American Association)
2012-Jake Kight-Edinburg Road Runners (United League)
2011-Kevin Smith-El Paso Diablos (American Association), Rockford RiverHawks (Frontier League)

Lavallee is no stranger to the NAIA or LSUS baseball as he was on the Pilots roster for five straight seasons, including a medical red-shirt season, and as a coach for the past two seasons. He came to LSUS as a 17-year-old freshman and played in a total of 200 games throughout his four seasons. Multiple knee surgeries forced him to miss the 2008 season, his senior year, but he came back for the 2009 campaign and finished second on the team in home runs (18) and RBIs (78). His spectacular 2009 season earned him numerous awards: Gulf Coast Athletic Conference All-Conference for the second time in his LSUS career, 2nd Team All-Louisiana, NAIA All American Honorable Mention, 1st Team All-Canada, Delta Sports Amateur Athlete of the Year, and runner up for the Canadian College Baseball Player of the Year.

Lavallee's playing career coincided with a 165-74 record for at LSUS and he was a part of the school's first Gulf Coast Athletic Conference (GCAC) regular season championship in 2005. In all, he played on three GCAC Tournament championship teams as well as playing in four NAIA Regional Tournaments, reaching the finals twice. He ranks 3rd on the all-time LSUS list in games played (200), 4th in doubles (41), 2nd in home runs (28), 2nd in runs batted in (142) and 4th in hit-by-pitch (41).

Coach Lavallee was born and raised in North Delta, British Columbia, Canada. He is the son of Wes and Tammy Lavallee and has two brothers, Millan and Reed. Brent played baseball, hockey and swam competitively while growing up and attending the Seaquam Secondary School. He played high school baseball for Ari Mellios on the North Delta Blue Jays of the British Columbia Premier Baseball League.

He is happily married to the former Katherine Rockwell of Shreveport and the two of them are the proud parents of Griffin (3).
