Dr. Chantee Earl Named Faculty Athletics Representative for LSU Shreveport Athletics
SHREVEPORT, La. – LSU Shreveport Athletics has announced the appointment of Dr. Chantee L. Earl as the university's new Faculty Athletics Representative (FAR), where she will assist with student-athlete eligibility while helping strengthen the relationship between the athletic department and the university's academic community.
As Faculty Athletics Representative, Dr. Earl will collaborate with the athletics department, faculty and university administration to assist with student-athlete eligibility, promote compliance with NAIA and institutional academic standards, and advocate for the academic success and overall well-being of LSUS student-athletes.
"Adding Dr. Earl as our Faculty Athletics Representative is an exciting addition to the LSUS Athletics family. Dr. Earl has a genuine passion for student success and understands the important role athletics plays in the overall collegiate experience. Her reputation as a highly respected faculty member and world-class athlete is second to none, and her unique perspective will strengthen the connection between academics and athletics. We are confident she will be a tremendous advocate for our student-athletes and an outstanding resource as we continue to pursue excellence both on the field of play and in the classroom," said Lucas Morgan, Director of Athletics.
Dr. Earl is an associate professor of education in LSUS's College of Education and Human Development and brings more than 20 years of experience in education, including more than 15 years in higher education. Throughout her career, she has prepared future educators, led academic programs and championed student success.
Before joining LSUS, Dr. Earl served on the faculty at Georgia State University, where she coordinated teacher education programs, co-directed the Center for Equity and Justice in Teacher Education, and represented student-athletes on the Georgia State University Faculty Senate as the Athletic Special Talents Representative.
A standout student-athlete at the University of Pittsburgh, Dr. Earl earned eight NCAA All-America honors, captured the 2000 NCAA Indoor Championship in the 800 meters and finished as the NCAA Outdoor Runner-Up in the event later that year. She went on to represent Team USA in the 800 meters from 2002-04 before being inducted into the University of Pittsburgh Athletic Hall of Fame in 2021.
"I'm honored to serve as LSUS's Faculty Athletics Representative and to support the outstanding student-athletes who represent our university," Dr. Earl said. "As both an educator and former Division I student-athlete, I understand the importance of balancing academic excellence with athletic achievement. I look forward to working alongside our coaches, administrators and student-athletes to foster a culture of integrity, accountability and success in the classroom, in competition and throughout the LSUS community."
