No. 1 LSUS Sweeps No. 15 Arizona Christian in Friday Doubleheader

SHREVEPORT, La. — No. 1 LSU Shreveport delivered a statement performance Friday at Pilot Field, sweeping No. 15 Arizona Christian University in a full nine-inning doubleheader. The Pilots rolled to a 15-1 victory in game one before securing the sweep with a 9-6 win in game two.

With the pair of wins, LSUS improves to 10-2 overall, while Arizona Christian falls to 7-4 on the season.

Game One – LSUS 15, Arizona Christian 1

The Pilots wasted no time setting the tone in the opener, scoring three runs in the first inning and erupting for six more in the second to take early command. LSUS finished with 15 runs on 15 hits in the nine-inning victory.

LSUS continued to tack on runs throughout the contest, adding single tallies in the third and sixth innings, three more in the seventh and one in the eighth to put the game out of reach.

Carlos Vega powered the offense with a five-hit, five-RBI performance. Spencer Sullivan added three hits and scored twice, while Carlos Sanchez drove in four runs. The Pilots consistently delivered in key situations and kept pressure on the Firestorm defense all afternoon.

On the mound, David Hankins earned the win after throwing six strong innings, allowing just one run while striking out five. Jacob Galaz, Jack Savitch, and Rhys Francis combined to work the final three innings and secure the dominant victory.

Game Two – LSUS 9, Arizona Christian 6

Arizona Christian responded in the nightcap, but the Pilots once again made the critical plays late to complete the sweep in another full nine-inning contest.

LSUS struck first and scored in four of the first five innings to build momentum. After the Firestorm battled back to even the game at 6-6, the Pilots answered with a decisive three-run eighth inning to regain control.

The Pilots totaled 13 hits in game two. Landon Hunt helped spark the offense at the top of the lineup, while Spencer Sullivan, Carlos Sanchez, and Carlos Vega each contributed key hits in run-producing moments. Timely hitting and aggressive baserunning once again proved pivotal.

Jacobo Gallegos made the start in game two, and the bullpen held firm down the stretch. Evan Gant earned the win in relief, tossing the final 1.2 innings to preserve the 9-6 victory.

The sweep over a top-15 opponent adds another strong mark to LSUS's early-season résumé as the top-ranked Pilots continue their impressive start to 2026.

LSUS will close the series with Arizona Christian on Saturday at 11 a.m. at Pilot Field.
