Hunt Named RRAC Player of the Week After Cycle Performance
SHREVEPORT, La. – LSU Shreveport's Landon Hunt has been named the Red River Athletic Conference Baseball Player of the Week after a standout performance that included one of the rarest feats in baseball.
Hunt highlighted his week by hitting for the cycle in the Pilots' 25-1 run-rule victory over Jarvis Christian on March 6. The junior went a perfect 5-for-5 at the plate with two doubles, a triple, and a home run, driving in five runs and scoring four times. With the performance, Hunt became just the second player in LSU Shreveport baseball history to hit for the cycle.
For the week, Hunt batted .500 (9-for-18) with six runs scored, nine RBIs, and five extra-base hits. He posted a .550 on-base percentage and a .944 slugging percentage while also swiping three bases during the Pilots' conference-opening series.
Hunt has been a key contributor to LSUS's strong start this season. Through 24 games, he is hitting .432 (32-for-74) with 23 runs scored, five doubles, three triples, and 15 RBIs, while adding 14 stolen bases. Defensively, Hunt has recorded 17 putouts and 13 assists.
LSU Shreveport is currently ranked No. 1 in the NAIA Baseball Coaches' Top 25 Poll released last week. The Pilots sit at 21-3 overall and 9-0 in Red River Athletic Conference play.
