Carlos Sanchez Named RRAC Player of the Year
SHREVEPORT, La. -- LSU Shreveport's Carlos Sanchez has been named the Red River Athletic Conference (RRAC) Player of the Year, capping off a remarkable 2026 season in which he emerged as one of the most complete and impactful players in the NAIA.
Sanchez, a cornerstone of the Pilots' lineup all season long, delivered a standout offensive campaign, batting .388 with 76 hits, 17 doubles, 13 triples, and 11 home runs while driving in 75 RBIs. His production ranks third nationally in RBIs, while his speed on the basepaths has been just as impactful, as he is tied for 14th in the nation with 35 stolen bases. His ability to impact the game in multiple facets made him a constant threat and a key factor in LSUS's success throughout the season.
In addition to his season-long production, Sanchez earned multiple RRAC Player of the Week honors during the year, showcasing his consistency and dominance at the conference level. Week after week, he set the tone offensively for the Pilots with timely hitting, extra-base power, and game-changing performances.
A steady presence at the plate and in the outfield, Sanchez anchored an LSUS offense that ranks among the most productive in the nation. The Pilots are hitting .348 as a team with 543 hits and 451 RBIs, while outscoring opponents 504-197 on the season. His leadership and production have been instrumental in guiding LSUS to a 38-12 overall record and a 20-7 mark in conference play.
Sanchez's Player of the Year honor not only reflects his individual excellence but also underscores the strength of the Pilots' 2026 campaign as LSUS continues its push toward a conference championship.
The Pilots will open the second round of the RRAC Baseball Championship Tournament on Saturday, May 2 against Texas A&M–Texarkana, with first pitch set for 5 p.m. as Sanchez and LSUS look to carry their momentum into postseason play.
