Pilots Rally Late to Defeat A&M-Victoria, Advance to RRAC Championship

SHREVEPORT, La. -- Power at the plate and steady relief pitching propelled LSU Shreveport past Texas A&M-Victoria 8-5 on Sunday, securing the Pilots a spot in the RRAC Baseball Championship game. The Pilots improved to 40-12 on the season, while the Jaguars fell to 36-14.

Spencer Sullivan and Carlos Sanchez provided the fireworks, each launching home runs to anchor the LSUS offense. Sullivan finished 2-for-4 with three RBIs, while Sanchez went 2-for-5 with a pair of runs driven in. Camden Stephens earned the win in relief, navigating two frames with one strikeout and one walk.

The Jaguars were led by Beck Zimmerman, who turned in a perfect 4-for-4 performance with an RBI, and Jackson Purcell, who drove in two runs on one hit. Matthew Mejia was tagged with the loss for Texas A&M-Victoria, allowing three runs on two hits—including a home run—over three innings of work. He finished his outing with one walk and one strikeout

LSU Shreveport will face Texas A&M-Texarkana in the RRAC Baseball Championship game on Monday, May 3 at 1 p.m. at Pilot Field in Shreveport, Louisiana.
