SHREVEPORT, La. — The Louisiana State University Shreveport (LSUS) men's basketball team put on a dazzling performance at The Dock on Thursday night, securing a commanding 101-71 victory over North American University.
The Pilots were led by a standout performance from Tyler Washington, who recorded a stellar double-double with 32 points and 11 rebounds. Washington also made his presence felt on defense with four steals and three blocks. Taj Anderson added 19 points, four steals, and two assists to the Pilots' tally, while Devonte Austin contributed a well-rounded effort with 13 points, seven rebounds, and five steals.
Meikkel Murray and Melvion Flanagan each chipped in 13 and 12 points, respectively, with Murray grabbing six rebounds and Flanagan adding four boards, three assists, and two steals. Davion Coleman rounded out the double-digit scorers for LSUS with 10 points, four assists, and three rebounds.
The Pilots were firing on all cylinders offensively, shooting an impressive 50% from the field, 50% from beyond the arc, and 75% from the free-throw line. Their relentless defense also played a crucial role, forcing turnovers and capitalizing on opportunities throughout the game.
North American University's Joseph Cormier was the bright spot for the Stallions, finishing with a team-high 26 points and eight rebounds. Damione Thomas added 12 points, six rebounds, and two blocks for the Stallions, who shot 40.3% from the field, 30% from three-point range, and 70% from the charity stripe.
The Pilots will return to action at The Dock on Saturday, December 14, for a special Christmas Toy Drive and Ugly Sweater Game against Huston-Tillotson University. Tip-off is set for 3 p.m. Fans are encouraged to bring a new, unwrapped toy for free admission.
