Tyler Washington Named RRAC Defensive Player of the Week

SHREVEPORT, La. — December 16, 2024 — LSU Shreveport senior forward Tyler Washington has been named the Red River Athletic Conference (RRAC) Defensive Player of the Week for his outstanding performances during the week of December 9-15.

Washington, a native of Delhi, La., delivered an exceptional defensive effort in a perfect 2-0 week for the Pilots. He recorded five steals and three blocked shots across the two games, while also dominating the boards with an average of 10.0 rebounds per game, including 8.0 per game on the defensive end.

In LSUS's commanding 101-71 victory over North American University (Texas), Washington showcased his versatility with a standout all-around performance, adding 32 points to his defensive contributions.

This season, Washington has been a force on defense, tallying 18 steals and 10 blocks. His consistent effort has been pivotal in LSUS improving to 5-4 in conference play and 8-5 overall.
