LSUS Earns Bid to NAIA Men’s Basketball Tournament, Set to Face Georgetown College

SHREVEPORT, La. — The LSUS men's basketball team is headed to the 2025 NAIA Men's Basketball Tournament as the No. 15 seed and will take on Georgetown College in the Georgetown, Ky., bracket on March 14th.

Their opening-round opponent, Georgetown College (26-4), was the No. 2 seed in the Mid-South Conference tournament but fell in the semifinal round to Freed-Hardeman University, 67-59. The Tigers finished 9-3 in conference play and have a strong postseason history, particularly against LSUS.

Georgetown and LSUS have met twice before in the NAIA National Tournament, with the Tigers coming out on top both times. In 2013, the two programs clashed in a Fab Four thriller, where Georgetown sank a 30-footer at the buzzer to advance to the championship game. The Pilots nearly got their revenge in 2019, but fell just short, 82-79, after missing a go-ahead shot in the final seconds. Georgetown went on to win the national title in both of those seasons.

The Tigers are led by Jaquias Franklin, who averages 15.3 points and 3.5 assists per game. Jabrion Spikes adds 13.3 points per contest, while Tae Dozier leads the team in rebounding with 6.7 boards per game.

LSUS counters with a dynamic lineup of its own. Senior guard Taj Anderson leads the Pilots with 19.8 points per game, while Tyler Washington anchors the paint with 5.7 rebounds per contest. Trey Boston facilitates the offense, averaging 4.5 assists per game.

Both programs have cemented themselves among the most consistent in NAIA history. Georgetown leads the nation with 34 consecutive tournament appearances, while LSUS owns the second-longest active streak at 21 straight trips to the national stage.

Tip-off is set for March 14, as the Pilots aim to break through against a familiar foe and advance in the tournament.
