SHREVEPORT, La. — LSU Shreveport tipped off its 2025–26 season in style Thursday morning, cruising past Wiley University 94–50 in an 11 a.m. Champions of Character Halloween edition game at The Dock. The event doubled as a community celebration, with a few hundred local elementary school students filling the stands to cheer on the Pilots and learn about the NAIA's five core values during a special halftime presentation from head coach Kyle Blankenship.
The Pilots put on a clinic on both ends of the floor, shooting 57.6 percent from the field and 42.1 percent from three-point range while holding the Wildcats to just 26.8 percent shooting.
Four Pilots shared the team-high with 14 points each — Emareyon McDonald, Thaddeus Johnson, Matthew Trahan, and Hayden Brittingham — highlighting LSUS's balanced attack. McDonald added five rebounds, six assists, and two steals, while Johnson contributed seven rebounds, four assists, and a steal. Trahan tallied seven rebounds, two assists, and two blocks, and Brittingham rounded out his day with eight rebounds, four assists, a steal, and a block.
Khi Wallace added 11 points, three rebounds, three blocks, and a steal, while Alexzaye Johnson set the tone as floor general with seven assists, six rebounds, and two steals.
LSUS controlled nearly every statistical category — winning the rebounding battle 49–29, dishing 27 assists to Wiley's 12, and dominating inside with a 52–6 advantage in points in the paint. The Pilots also held a commanding 23–4 edge in points off turnovers and 33–21 in bench points.
Shamir Mosley led Wiley with 15 points, five rebounds, and five assists. LaRonte McHenry added seven rebounds, while Cortez Collins tallied two blocks.
LSU Shreveport (1–0) will hit the road for its next matchup on Monday, November 2, when the Pilots travel to Richland, Texas, to take on Oklahoma City University. Tip-off is set for 6:30 p.m.
