Waxahachie, Texas – LSU Shreveport men's basketball dropped a heartbreaker on the road Monday night, falling 91-86 in overtime to Nelson University (formerly Southwestern Assemblies of God University). The Pilots move to 2-1 overall on the season, while the Lions improve to 4-1.
Khi Wallace led the charge for LSUS with a dominant double-double performance, recording 21 points, 14 rebounds, three assists, two blocks, and a steal. Hayden Brittingham followed with 20 points, eight rebounds, and three blocks, while Devonte Austin added 13 points, six boards, and four assists.
The Pilots shot 42.2 percent from the field, 35.3 percent from three-point range, and 58.8 percent at the free throw line.
Nelson was paced by Micah Clark's 32-point effort, along with six rebounds and two steals. Jesse Iweze contributed 23 points, eight rebounds, six blocks, and two assists, while Trelin Green dished out 12 assists to fuel the Lions' offense. Nelson shot 43.1 percent from the field, 26.9 percent from beyond the arc, and 66.7 percent from the line.
LSUS will look to regroup on Friday, Nov. 14, when the Pilots travel to Henderson, Tenn., to take on Freed-Hardeman University. Tip-off is set for 2 p.m.
