SHREVEPORT, La. — In a showcase of offensive efficiency that would make any NBA team envious, the LSU Shreveport Pilots dismantled Jarvis Christian University 114-76 Saturday at The Dock, improving to 5-3 overall and remaining undefeated at 3-0 in Red River Athletic Conference play.
The final score flattered Jarvis Christian, as LSUS controlled this game from the opening tip, building a lead that ballooned to as many as 42 points in the final minutes. Khi Wallace recorded his third double-double of the season with 31 points and 12 rebounds on 13-of-16 shooting to lead LSUS. Hayden Brittingham added 22 points, seven rebounds, five assists, four steals, and two blocks. Thaddeus Johnson also finished with 22 points.
Jarvis Christian was led by Erin Wright's 24 points and four rebounds. Aboubacar Cisse contributed 21 points and seven rebounds, while Mark Wise had 17 points, six rebounds, and two assists. Iversyn Smith added six rebounds.
The game was competitive early, with Cisse hitting a three-pointer and Wright opening the scoring for Jarvis Christian. Wise provided a spark with a three-pointer and Cisse continued to attack inside, keeping the Bulldogs within reach during portions of the first half. LSUS took control midway through the first half when Wallace's thunderous dunk sparked a run that built a 16-7 advantage. Brittingham's aggressive play resulted in steals that led to easy transition opportunities.
Jarvis Christian showed resilience throughout, with Wright continuing to score from beyond the arc and Cisse fighting for second-chance opportunities. However, LSUS's balanced attack proved too much as the game progressed. The Pilots shot 65.3% from the field and 61.9% from the free-throw line. Both teams shot 61.9% from the charity stripe.
The Pilots returns to action Thursday, Dec. 11 at LSU Alexandria with tip-off set for 7:30 p.m.
