Efficient Second Half Lifts LSUS to 99–81 Road Win at TAMUT

TEXARKANA, Texas — LSU Shreveport turned efficiency into separation Saturday, using a poised second-half performance to secure a 99–81 road victory over Texas A&M University–Texarkana and remain unbeaten in conference play.

The Pilots improve to 11–3 overall and 8–0 in league action, while the Eagles move to 9–4 overall and 6–2 in conference play.

The opening minutes were tightly contested, with TAMUT briefly holding its largest lead of the night early in the first half. The Eagles struck first from the perimeter, but LSU Shreveport quickly settled in, responding with disciplined execution on both ends. Despite just one lead change and three ties in the entire contest, LSUS began asserting control midway through the first half.

Behind strong interior play and sharp ball movement, the Pilots closed the half with momentum and carried a 47–40 advantage into the break.

LSUS' efficiency told the story over the final 20 minutes. The Pilots finished the night shooting an impressive 58.9 percent from the field (33-of-56) and 43.8 percent from three-point range (7-of-16), consistently converting quality looks while forcing the Eagles into tougher shots. Texas A&M Texarkana shot 40.0 percent overall and 26.1 percent from beyond the arc, struggling to keep pace as LSUS stretched the floor.

The turning point came early in the second half, when LSU Shreveport pushed the lead into double figures and never looked back. The Pilots' ability to attack downhill paid dividends at the free-throw line, where they went 26-of-34, compared to 15-of-23 for TAMUT. That edge helped LSUS maintain control during key stretches and build its largest lead of 23 points late in the game.

Hayden Brittingham led the way with a dominant all-around performance, finishing with 25 points, eight rebounds, four assists, and three steals. James Johnson anchored the interior, recording a double-double of 19 points and 10 rebounds, while also protecting the rim with two blocks. Thaddeus Johnson added 19 points and three assists, knocking down timely shots as LSUS created separation.

Emareyon McDonald chipped in 13 points and six rebounds, while Devonte Austin provided energy off the bench with 10 points, three rebounds, and three steals, contributing to the Pilots' 29 bench points.

LSUS held a narrow rebounding edge (39–38) and totaled 17 assists, showcasing balanced offensive execution. Despite TAMUT holding advantages in points in the paint (44–40) and second-chance points (23–14), LSU Shreveport's shooting efficiency and ability to capitalize at the line proved decisive.

For the Eagles, Daniel Vieira-Tuck led the team with 20 points, while Daryl Houston posted a double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds. Jakari Livingston added 14 points and four rebounds, and Jarren Cook finished with 10 points.

LSU Shreveport will look to keep its perfect conference record intact on Thurs., Jan. 8, when the Pilots travel to New Orleans, La., to face Xavier University. Tipoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
