Hattiesburg, Miss. – The LSU Shreveport men's soccer team fought to a 1-1 draw against No. 3 William Carey on Tuesday night. The result leaves the Pilots at 0-0-2 on the season.
LSUS struck first in the 23rd minute when Jaime Zani capitalized on a well-timed assist from Jack Thomas, slotting home a clinical finish to put the Pilots ahead 1-0. The early goal set the tone for a physical, back-and-forth first half, with LSUS defending resolutely to preserve the lead into halftime.
William Carey's Santiago Molina leveled the score 13 minutes into the second half, finishing a cross from Daniel Mulero to make it 1-1. The Pilots pushed for a winner, creating late chances, but the Crusaders held on for the draw.
LSUS goalkeeper Sondre Liahagen-Kolnes made two crucial saves to keep the game level. William Carey's Alex Molto also finished with two stops.
The Pilots return to The Swap on Saturday, Aug. 30, hosting Southwestern Christian University at 3 p.m.
