Jack Thomas Named United Soccer Coaches NAIA Player of the Year
SHREVEPORT, La. – Senior forward Jack Thomas has been chosen as the United Soccer Coaches NAIA Player of the Year after delivering one of the most prolific attacking campaigns in the country.
Thomas' list of honors also includes NAIA Men's Soccer First-Team All-American status, making him one of two LSUS men's soccer student-athletes in program history to earn First-Team All-American distinction and underscoring the breakthrough year for the Pilots.
A constant threat in the final third, Thomas powered LSUS's attack with 20 goals and 12 assists, totaling 52 points on the season. He fired 86 shots, placed 46 on target, and converted at a .535 shot-on-goal rate. Five of his goals came in golden-goal situations, repeatedly providing decisive moments when matches hung in the balance.
His senior campaign rewrote multiple LSUS standards. Thomas set new single-season program records in goals, total shots, and shots on goal, while also overtaking the career assists mark along the way.
Behind Thomas and a veteran Pilots squad, LSUS finished the year 14-2-6 overall and 10-1 in Red River Athletic Conference play. The Pilots captured the RRAC regular-season championship and climbed to as high as No. 7 in the final NAIA national rankings.
