LSUS Women’s Basketball Ranked No. 22 in NAIA Preseason Coaches’ Poll
SHREVEPORT, La. – The LSU Shreveport women's basketball team will begin the 2025-26 season ranked No. 22 in the NAIA Preseason Coaches' Top 25 Poll, as announced by the national office.
The Pilots enter the new campaign following a historic 2024-25 season under Head Coach Tim Hays, who guided the program to a 27-4 overall record and a dominant 23-1 mark in Red River Athletic Conference (RRAC) play. LSUS claimed the RRAC Regular Season title and secured back-to-back conference championships. Hays was recognized as the RRAC Women's Basketball Coach of the Year in his first season at the helm.
Building on last year's success, LSUS has strengthened its coaching staff with the addition of Assistant Coach Sirena "Peanut" Tuitele, who will focus on developing the team's forwards. On the court, the Pilots return key standouts including RRAC First Team Guard Selma Markisic and RRAC Second Team Guard Paula Gonzalez Herrero, both expected to lead the veteran lineup.
LSUS will tip off the 2025-26 season on Sunday, Oct. 26, at home in The Dock, hosting Texas Wesleyan University. Game time is set for 1 p.m.
