No. 22 LSU Shreveport Opens Season with Commanding Win Over Texas Wesleyan

SHREVEPORT, La. — The No. 22 LSU Shreveport women's basketball team tipped off its 2025-26 campaign with a dominant 68-47 victory over Texas Wesleyan University on Sunday afternoon inside The Dock. With the win, the Pilots start the season 1-0, while the Rams fall to 1-1.

Selma Markisic led the way for LSUS with 22 points, three rebounds, and three assists. Ally Fleenor followed with 17 points, five rebounds, and two assists, while Toni Coleman delivered an all-around performance with 11 points, eight rebounds, five assists, and eight steals — tying the program record for most steals in a single game. Amandine L'Etang made her presence known defensively with three blocks, four rebounds, and two steals.

The Pilots outworked the Rams in nearly every category, including points off turnovers (28-16) and fast-break points (15-12). LSUS also got 24 points from its bench and led by as many as 28 in the fourth quarter with 5:39 remaining.

As a team, LSU Shreveport shot 35.8 percent from the field, 24.2 percent from three-point range, and 75 percent from the free-throw line, holding Texas Wesleyan to just 32.1 percent shooting.

Texas Wesleyan was led by Kameryn Phillips, who posted 21 points and seven rebounds.

The Pilots will return to action on Wednesday, Oct. 29, when they travel to Marshall, Texas, to take on Wiley College. Tip-off is set for 5 p.m.
