Pilots Roll Past SUNO, 83-61, in Road Victory

NEW ORLEANS, La. – The LSU Shreveport women's basketball team powered past Southern University–New Orleans with an 83-61 victory on Friday evening in New Orleans, La. The Pilots move to 3-0 overall while the Knights fall to 3-1.

Graduate guard Selma Markisic once again led the way for the Pilots, pouring in 19 points to go along with four assists and three steals. Toni Coleman turned in a near triple-double performance with 15 points, seven assists, six rebounds, and six steals, setting the tone on both ends of the floor.

In the paint, Amandine L'Etang controlled the glass with 12 rebounds and a dominant six blocks, while Ally Fleenor added 12 points, seven rebounds, four steals, and two assists to round out a balanced team effort.

As a team, LSUS shot 47.9 percent from the field, 33.3 percent from beyond the arc, and 53.8 percent from the free-throw line. The Pilots' defensive pressure and depth made the difference, as they outpaced the Knights in assists (22-17), points off turnovers (28-8), and bench points (27-9).

SUNO was led by Katelyn Wilson, who scored 20 points and added three assists and two steals. Kaylan Jack followed with 10 points, while Tierra Sylvas contributed a strong all-around game with 10 rebounds, four assists, and two blocks. Jordan Harris dished out seven assists, and Hannah Cornelious and Jakhiya Smith combined for 15 rebounds.

The Knights finished shooting 31.9 percent from the field, 24.3 percent from three-point range, and 64.7 percent at the line.

The Pilots will look to close out their road trip on a high note tomorrow when they face No. 13 Loyola University New Orleans at 2 p.m. in New Orleans.
