Pilots Fall on the Road to Loyola-New Orleans, 71-51

NEW ORLEANS, La. — LSU Shreveport women's basketball dropped its first game of the season Saturday afternoon, falling 71-51 to Loyola University New Orleans at The Den. Both teams now stand at 3-1 overall.

Selma Markisic led the Pilots with 13 points, five rebounds, two assists, and a steal, while Amandine L'Etang added 10 points and six rebounds in the effort. Sami Slusarek was active on the glass, collecting nine rebounds and four steals, and Katie Ambrose disrupted passing lanes with six steals of her own.

As a team, the Pilots shot 31.1 percent from the floor and 75 percent from the free throw line.

Loyola was paced by Deniya Thornton, who scored 19 points and grabbed five rebounds. Caitlin Travis added 14 points and seven boards, while SeQuia Carroll posted 12 points and eight rebounds. The Wolf Pack also got double-digit rebounding from Alissa O'Dell (11) and a game-high 10 assists from Chandler Caver. Loyola shot 40.3 percent from the field and 51.7 percent from the line.

LSU Shreveport will look to bounce back next week as the Pilots travel to Point Lookout, Missouri for the C of O Lady Cat Classic, facing College of the Ozarks on Nov. 14 at 7 p.m. before wrapping up play on Nov. 15.
