Pilots Power Past College of the Ozarks, Close Out Day One with 74–63 Win
POINTE LOOKOUT, Mo. -- LSU Shreveport women's basketball closed out Friday night at the C of O Lady Cat Classic with a strong 74–63 victory over tournament host College of the Ozarks. With the win, the Pilots improve to 4–1 on the season while the Wildcats fall to 1–2.
LSUS dictated the pace from the outset, applying steady defensive pressure and executing efficiently on the offensive end. The Pilots shot an impressive 52.7 percent from the field, 35.3 percent from three-point range, and 62.5 percent from the free-throw line—marks that allowed them to stay in control throughout the matchup.
Toni Coleman led the way with a standout all-around performance, posting 20 points, seven rebounds, and five steals. Ally Fleenor delivered a strong interior effort with 15 points, six rebounds, and two assists. Selma Markisic added 14 points, three rebounds, two assists, and a steal to round out another balanced scoring night for the Pilots.
College of the Ozarks was led by Keara Mattingly, who finished with 19 points, 17 rebounds, two assists, a steal, and a block. Ashlen Garrett added 14 points, four rebounds, and two steals, while Logan Jones contributed 13 points, five rebounds, five assists, and four steals. The Wildcats shot 32.4 percent from the field and 21.4 percent from long range.
LSU Shreveport returns to action at the Lady Cat Classic on Saturday, Nov. 15, at 1 p.m., when the Pilots take on Mid-America Christian University.
