Markisic Drops 35 as LSUS Cruises Past UNT Dallas, 87–59

SHREVEPORT, La. — LSU Shreveport women's basketball turned in a dominant, all-around performance Saturday afternoon at The Dock, defeating UNT Dallas, 87–59, to remain unbeaten in Red River Athletic Conference play.

The Pilots improved to 12-2 overall and 8-0 in RRAC action, while the Trailblazers dropped to 4-5 overall and 3-4 in conference play.

LSUS set the tone early with defensive intensity and efficient ball movement, forcing UNT Dallas into difficult looks and turnovers from the opening tip. After the Trailblazers briefly tied the game at 3–3, the Pilots responded with a decisive run fueled by Selma Markisic, who knocked down an early three-pointer and consistently attacked the basket. LSU Shreveport closed the first quarter with a 24–16 advantage and never relinquished the lead.

The Pilots' offense continued to click in the second quarter, as crisp ball movement led to open shots and high-percentage looks. LSUS finished the half shooting 47.8 percent from the field while limiting UNT Dallas to just 30.2 percent shooting. Behind balanced scoring and active defense, the Pilots carried a commanding 47–29 lead into halftime.

LSUS broke the game open in the third quarter, outscoring UNT Dallas 30–10 in the period. Markisic caught fire from beyond the arc, drilling multiple three-pointers, while the Pilots' defense forced turnovers that quickly turned into points. LSU Shreveport capitalized on 21 Trailblazer turnovers, scoring 23 points off turnovers and pushing the lead to as many as 38 points by the end of the third quarter.

The Pilots' ability to share the basketball was on full display, as they finished the game with 22 assists on 33 made field goals. LSUS also held a decisive edge from long range, knocking down 11 three-pointers at a 37.9 percent clip, compared to UNT Dallas' 6-for-24 shooting from deep.

With the outcome well in hand, LSU Shreveport maintained its composure in the fourth quarter, continuing to defend and execute on both ends of the floor to secure the 87–59 victory.

Markisic led all scorers with a game-high 35 points, adding four rebounds, four steals, and two assists. Paula Gonzalez Herrero contributed a well-rounded performance with 12 points, three assists, two rebounds, two steals, and a block, while Sami Slusarek recorded a double-double with 11 points and 12 rebounds. Toni Coleman guided the offense with nine assists and four steals, and Amandine L'Etang pulled down seven rebounds while anchoring the paint defensively.

UNT Dallas was led by De'Asia Johnson, who posted a double-double with 13 points and 14 rebounds, along with two assists and a block. Shandrea Yeldell finished with 12 points, five rebounds, and three assists, while Channing Beauvais added 11 points. Lauren Pete collected six rebounds for the Trailblazers.

LSU Shreveport will return to action on January 3, 2026, traveling to Texarkana, Texas, to face Texas A&M–Texarkana. Tip-off is scheduled for 1 p.m.
