Markisic, Coleman Sweep RRAC Women’s Hoops Player of the Week Honors

SHREVEPORT, La. – LSU Shreveport women's basketball captured a sweep of the Red River Athletic Conference (RRAC) Women's Hoops Player of the Week awards for the eighth week of the season, as Selma Markisic was named Offensive Player of the Week and Toni Coleman earned Defensive Player of the Week honors for the period of Dec. 15–21.

Graduate guard Selma Markisic powered the Pilots' offense with a pair of standout performances, averaging 27.0 points per game during the week. She opened the stretch with 19 points in LSUS' 84–53 conference victory over the University of the Southwest (N.M.), while also recording three rebounds, four assists, and two steals. Markisic followed with a dominant scoring effort against North Texas-Dallas, erupting for a season-high 35 points in an 87–59 win. She was highly efficient from the floor, shooting 14-of-21 overall and knocking down six three-pointers on 11 attempts, while adding four rebounds, two assists, and four steals.

Markisic currently leads the RRAC in total points with 240 and ranks among the conference leaders with an average of 18.5 points per game. She also sits third in the league with 27 steals. The honor marks her second Offensive Player of the Week recognition this season.

LSU Shreveport remains perfect in conference play at 7–0 and holds an 11–2 overall record. The Pilots were also recognized nationally, receiving two votes in the latest NAIA Women's Basketball Coaches Poll.

Junior Toni Coleman was a key catalyst on both ends of the court, earning Defensive Player of the Week honors after delivering consistent all-around performances. Coleman averaged 5.5 rebounds, 6.5 assists, and four steals per game during the week. In the win over USW, she finished with nine points and grabbed a team-high seven rebounds while helping anchor the defense. She followed with another strong showing against North Texas-Dallas, totaling nine points, four rebounds, nine assists, and four steals.

Coleman currently leads both LSUS and the RRAC with 59 steals and 54 assists. This marks her third Defensive Player of the Week award this season, and she has also earned one Offensive Player of the Week honor during the year.
