Complete Team Effort Sends Pilots Past TAMUT, 90–58

Texarkana, Texas — LSU Shreveport women's basketball put together one of its most complete performances of the season on the road Saturday, defeating Texas A&M University–Texarkana 90–58 to remain unbeaten in Red River Athletic Conference play.

The Pilots improved to 12–2 overall and 8–0 in RRAC action, while the Eagles fell to 7–6 overall and 6–2 in conference play.

LSUS controlled the game from the opening minutes, combining efficient shooting with disruptive defense to set the tone. The Pilots shot 54.0 percent from the field (34-of-63) and knocked down 13 three-pointers, converting at a 46.4 percent clip from beyond the arc. TAMUT struggled to find consistency offensively, finishing 22-of-59 (37.3 percent) from the floor and 3-of-21 (14.3 percent) from three-point range.

After a competitive first quarter, LSU Shreveport used a decisive second-quarter surge to separate. The Pilots forced turnovers, pushed the pace, and capitalized on open looks, outscoring the Eagles while stretching the lead into double digits by halftime. LSUS finished the game with 21 assists, showcasing its ball movement and offensive balance, compared to 14 assists for TAMUT.

Defensively, the Pilots' pressure proved overwhelming. LSU Shreveport forced 26 turnovers, converting those miscues into 27 points, while holding the Eagles to just 11 points off turnovers. Toni Coleman anchored the defensive effort with seven steals, consistently disrupting passing lanes and igniting transition opportunities.

LSUS continued to assert control in the second half, answering every TAMUT push with timely shooting and interior scoring. The Pilots scored 36 points in the paint, added 16 second-chance points, and finished with 12 fastbreak points, reflecting their ability to score at all three levels. Although the Eagles narrowly edged LSUS on the glass 35–34, they were unable to turn rebounding opportunities into sustained runs.

Paula Gonzalez led the Pilots with a standout all-around performance, recording 22 points, six rebounds, five assists, and four steals. Ally Fleenor added 20 points, six rebounds, and three assists, while Sam Slusarek contributed 15 points, five rebounds, two assists, and two blocks. Coleman rounded out the double-figure scorers with 11 points, pairing her offensive contribution with elite defensive activity.

For Texas A&M–Texarkana, Chi'onne Dailey led the way with 15 points, five rebounds, and four steals. Breyionce George chipped in nine points and five rebounds, while Chioma Emeh posted a balanced effort with six points, six rebounds, three assists, and three steals. TAMUT showed resilience but struggled to overcome LSU Shreveport's efficiency and defensive pressure.

LSU Shreveport will return to action on Thursday, Dec. 8, traveling to New Orleans, Louisiana, to face Xavier University (La.). Tip-off is set for 5:30 p.m.
