Fast Start Fuels LSU Shreveport Women Past TAMUSA at The Dock

SHREVEPORT, La. – An explosive opening quarter and steady execution on both ends of the floor lifted LSU Shreveport women's basketball to a 71-63 win over Texas A&M University–San Antonio on Thursday night at The Dock. The victory moves the Pilots to 16-2 overall and 12-0 in RRAC play, while TAMUSA drops to 13-5 overall and 10-2 in conference action.

LSU Shreveport set the tone early, racing out to a 25-6 lead after the first quarter behind sharp perimeter shooting and relentless offensive rebounding. The Pilots carried that momentum into the second quarter, building a 46-14 halftime advantage. TAMUSA chipped away in the second half, but LSUS never allowed the Jaguars to close the gap enough to shift control.

Selma Markisic led the Pilots with 26 points, three rebounds, and three assists, pacing an offense that shot 46.6 percent from the field. Sami Slusarek tallied 15 points and seven rebounds, while Amandine L'Etang recorded a double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds. LSU Shreveport's bench provided a decisive edge, outscoring TAMUSA's reserves 45-0, and the Pilots held a 45-37 rebounding advantage.

For the Jaguars, Evelyn Lorenzo posted a game-high 27 points to go along with five rebounds, three assists, and three steals. Aniyah Lewis added 10 points, seven rebounds, and three steals, while Talaiyah Andrews pulled down 10 rebounds. TAMUSA forced 22 LSUS turnovers and converted them into 26 points, but shot just 29.6 percent from the field.

LSU Shreveport will be back in action on Thursday, Jan. 22, traveling to Hawkins, Texas to face Jarvis Christian University. Tip off is set for 5:30 p.m.
