Markisic Earns Fourth RRAC Offensive Player of the Week Honor
SHREVEPORT, La. – LSU Shreveport graduate student Selma Markisic has been recognized as the Red River Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Week for the period of Jan. 12–19, earning the honor for the fourth time this season.
Markisic delivered another standout week for the Pilots, averaging 27 points and 3.5 rebounds per game while helping LSUS remain unbeaten in conference play. She poured in 28 points in a 78-61 victory over Our Lady of the Lake (Texas) before adding 26 points in a 71-63 win against Texas A&M University-San Antonio. Across the two games, Markisic totaled seven rebounds, four assists, and four steals, continuing her consistent all-around production.
The graduate student currently leads the RRAC in multiple offensive categories, including field goals made (117), three-pointers made (58), total points (343), and scoring average (19.1 points per game). Her perimeter shooting and scoring efficiency have been key drivers behind LSUS's success this season.
As a team, LSU Shreveport is off to a 12-0 start in RRAC play and holds a 16-2 overall record. The Pilots also continue to receive national recognition, collecting 22 votes in the latest NAIA Women's Basketball Coaches' Top 25 Poll.
