Pilots Cruise to Victory Over Jarvis Christian, 79-26
HAWKINS, Texas — The LSU Shreveport women's basketball team continued its dominant run through conference play with a 79-26 road victory over Jarvis Christian University on Thursday night.
With the win, the Pilots improved to 17-2 overall and remained perfect in the Red River Athletic Conference at 13-0. The Bulldogs drop to 3-16 overall and 2-11 in conference play.
LSU Shreveport used balanced scoring and aggressive defense to control the tempo, shooting 47.1 percent from the field while forcing key stops down the stretch. Toni Coleman led the Pilots with an all-around performance, finishing with 18 points, five rebounds, and six steals. Ally Fleenor added 11 points, and Celina Vilcinskas pulled down a team-high seven rebounds.
The Pilots held the Bulldogs to just 15.4 percent shooting from the floor, while winning the rebounding battle 34-29. LSU Shreveport also recorded nine assists and limited its turnovers to seven in the contest.
For Jarvis Christian, Keiora Gaines led the Bulldogs with eight points. Shamya Champ grabbed seven rebounds, and Carmela Hayden dished out five assists.
LSUS will be back in action on Jan. 29 as they welcome Louisiana Christian University to The Dock. Tip off is set for 5:30 p.m.
