LSUS Earns 77-57 Road Win at UNT Dallas
DALLAS, Texas -- LSU Shreveport picked up a 77-57 road victory over UNT Dallas on Thursday night.
With the win, the Pilots improve to 20-2 overall and remain unbeaten in Red River Athletic Conference play at 16-0. UNT Dallas falls to 8-11 on the season and 7-10 in conference action.
LSUS trailed 15-14 at the end of the first quarter but responded in the second, taking a 35-26 lead into halftime. The Pilots extended their advantage in the third quarter, outscoring the Trailblazers 30-14 to build a 65-40 lead heading into the fourth.
Toni Coleman led the Pilots with a double-double, finishing with 23 points and 10 rebounds. She also recorded five steals and four assists. Selma Markisic matched Coleman with 23 points while adding four rebounds, two assists, and two steals.
Ally Fleenor added 10 points and nine rebounds, while Celina Vilcinskas contributed nine points and eight boards. As a team, LSUS shot 51 percent (26-of-51) from the field and held UNT Dallas to 33.8 percent (22-of-65). The Pilots also controlled the rebounding margin, 49-23, and scored 42 points in the paint.
LSUS converted 22-of-29 free throws (75.9 percent), compared to 6-of-14 (42.9 percent) for the Trailblazers.
De'Asia Johnson led UNT Dallas with 25 points, six rebounds, two assists, and two steals. Sanaa Murphy-Showers added nine points, Alyssa Pendley recorded five points and six rebounds, and Jade Myles finished with six points.
LSU Shreveport returns to action on Saturday, Feb. 7, traveling to face University of the Southwest. Tip-off is set for 12 p.m. MT / 1 p.m. CT.
