Pilots Ready to Launch Postseason Push in RRAC Quarterfinal
SHREVEPORT, La. -- The postseason tips off Tuesday night at The Dock as No. 1 seed LSU Shreveport hosts No. 8 seed Our Lady of the Lake University in the Red River Athletic Conference Quarterfinal at 5:30 p.m. With a berth in the RRAC Tournament final site in Alexandria, La., on the line, the Pilots look to protect their home floor and take the next step toward a conference title.
LSUS (24-4, 20-2 RRAC) closed the regular season with a commanding 60-38 road win over the Saints and has leaned all season on balance and defensive toughness. The Pilots average 72.0 points per game while holding opponents to just 55.6 — a +16.4 scoring margin. Graduate guard Selma Markisic leads the offense at 17.7 points per game with 75 three-pointers, while junior point guard Toni Coleman adds 12.6 points and a team-best 105 assists.
Defense remains the Pilots' calling card. LSUS forces 22.0 turnovers per game and averages 15.5 steals, spearheaded by Coleman, who leads the NAIA in steals with 133 this season. Her ability to disrupt passing lanes and ignite transition opportunities has defined LSUS' identity. On the interior, Ally Fleenor (11.0 ppg, 6.0 rpg) and Amandine L'Etang provide a physical presence, with L'Etang pulling down a team-high 195 rebounds to anchor the glass.
Our Lady of the Lake (9-19, 8-14 RRAC) is paced by Alexandra Westerdijk Martin (12.5 ppg) and Shayla Dede (11.2 ppg) and will aim to limit turnovers and control tempo against the Pilots' pressure. LSUS claimed both regular-season meetings and now turns its focus to advancing.
