Markisic Named RRAC Player of the Year

SHREVEPORT, La. – LSU Shreveport women's basketball standout Selma Markisic has been named the Red River Athletic Conference (RRAC) Player of the Year, capping a remarkable graduate campaign for the Pilots.

A native of Brooklyn, N.Y., Markisic has been the offensive engine for LSUS Pilots all season long, leading the team in scoring and setting the tone on both ends of the floor. She is averaging 17.9 points per game while adding 3.2 rebounds, 2.6 assists, and an impressive 3.0 steals per contest.

Markisic's impact on the conference was undeniable, earning RRAC Player of the Week honors five times throughout the season — a testament to her consistency and dominance against league competition.

Her signature performance came on Jan. 15 against Our Lady of the Lake University (OLLU), when she poured in 28 points in a commanding effort. In that game, Markisic shot 68 percent from the field, 50 percent from beyond the arc, and 66.7 percent from the free-throw line, showcasing her efficiency and ability to score at all three levels.

Throughout the year, Markisic has delivered in key moments, serving as both a scoring threat and a defensive disruptor. Her three steals per game rank among the conference leaders, highlighting her ability to change games with her defensive intensity.

Markisic's leadership and production have played a pivotal role in the Pilots' success this season, and her selection as RRAC Player of the Year solidifies her place among the conference's elite performers.
