Seven Pilots Earn RRAC Postseason Honors; Kaplan Named Coach of the Year
SHREVEPORT, La. — The LSU Shreveport women's soccer team was well represented in the Red River Athletic Conference (RRAC) postseason awards, earning seven individual honors following a standout 2025 campaign. First-year head coach Andy Kaplan was named RRAC Coach of the Year after leading the Pilots to an 11-6 overall record and a 10-1 mark in conference play, capturing back-to-back RRAC regular-season titles.
Under Kaplan's leadership, LSUS showcased one of the most balanced attacks in the league, finishing the regular season with 35 goals, 20 assists, and a .551 shot-on-goal percentage.
Sophomore forward Jade Derks and junior defender Ella White highlighted the team's achievements, both being named to the RRAC First Team All-Conference. Derks, a dynamic scorer from Venhorst, Netherlands, started 16 of 17 matches and led the Pilots with 13 goals, 11 assists, 37 points, three game-winning goals, and a perfect 2-for-2 record on penalty kicks. White, a defensive anchor from Burnsville, Minnesota, started all 12 matches she appeared in, contributing three goals and one assist while leading a backline that stifled opposing offenses throughout conference play.
Junior forward Halee Hernandez earned a spot on the RRAC Second Team All-Conference after an impressive season that saw her start all 16 matches and tally seven goals, five assists, and 19 points.
Defensive standout Laura Kucharz, a junior from Singen, Germany, received RRAC Honorable Mention All-Conference recognition and was also honored with a place on the RRAC Champions of Character Team. Kucharz started all 17 matches for the Pilots, recording one goal and one assist, and served as a key leader both on and off the field.
Rounding out the awards were two talented freshmen — Alex Kelly and Ainara Garcia — who both earned spots on the RRAC All-Freshman Team. Kelly, a midfielder from Sunderland, England, appeared in all 17 matches with one assist, while Garcia, a defender from Madrid, Spain, started 12 matches and appeared in 14, contributing to the Pilots' defensive consistency with three shots and one on goal.
The Pilots now turn their focus to postseason play as they compete in the RRAC Women's Soccer Tournament on November 10 in Texarkana, Texas.
