LSUS Women’s Soccer Set for RRAC Championship Clash Against Xavier (La.)
TEXARKANA, Texas – The No. 22 LSU Shreveport women's soccer team is headed to the Red River Athletic Conference Championship Final, where the Pilots will take on Xavier University of Louisiana on Wednesday, Nov. 12, at 1 p.m. The match will be played at Judy Kelley Morgan Field, hosted by Texas A&M University–Texarkana.
The Pilots punched their ticket to the title match with a commanding 2-0 clean sheet over LSU Alexandria in Monday's semifinal round. Sophomore midfielder Jade Derks continued her standout season by netting both goals for LSUS, improving her season totals to 15 goals and 11 assists, leading the team in both categories.
In goal, Elena Lopez has anchored the Pilot defense all season. The junior keeper enters the championship with a 2.1 goals-against average (GAA), 84 saves, and three shutouts, providing leadership in crucial postseason moments.
Xavier (La.) advanced to the final behind a high-powered offense led by Samira Roper, who has scored 25 goals this season, including six game-winners. Juliana Kottbauer paces the Gold Nuggets with nine assists, while goalkeeper Luisa Bella has maintained a 1.15 GAA, totaling 35 saves and six shutouts on the year.
The matchup will mark a rematch of the teams' regular-season meeting on Oct. 27, when Xavier edged LSUS in a 2-1 battle at The Swamp. The Pilots will now have a chance to even the score—with a championship trophy on the line.
Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m. Wednesday, with the winner earning the 2025 RRAC Women's Soccer Championship title and an automatic bid to the NAIA National Championship Tournament.
