Pilots Claim Doubles Point, Fall 5-2 to LSU Alexandria
SHREVEPORT, La. -- LSU Shreveport women's tennis dropped a 5-2 decision to LSU Alexandria on Thursday afternoon. With the loss, the Pilots move to 1-1 overall and 0-1 in RRAC play.
The Pilots started strong by earning the doubles point, winning two of three courts. At No. 2 doubles, Lidia Gomez and Ana Julia De Paula Mandrot defeated Ekaterina Orlova and Isabella Stuurman, 6-4. LSUS then secured the point at No. 3 as Sara Sofia Sanchez Molano and Jade Derks edged Joline Roesch and Amaya Bobadilla, 7-6.
LSU Alexandria responded in singles play, claiming five of the six courts to secure the match.
At No. 1 singles, Nahia Echaide topped Maike Tiemersma, 6-2, 6-4, while Isabella Stuurman defeated Lidia Gomez, 6-2, 6-2 at No. 2. Lucie Ivanova earned a 6-2, 6-4 win over Lucia Lucas at No. 3 and Esthella Valentina Gonzalez Saiza secured a 6-1, 6-1 victory against Jade Derks at No. 6.
The Pilots' lone singles victory came at No. 4, where Ana Julia De Paula Mandrot defeated Joline Roesch in straight sets, 6-4, 6-2
LSU Shreveport will be back in action on Feb. 8 as they travel to face Northwestern State University. First serve is set for noon.
