Pilots Explode for 30 Runs in Run-Rule Victory Over Jarvis Christian

SHREVEPORT, La. – The top-ranked LSU Shreveport baseball team unleashed an offensive barrage Thursday night, defeating Jarvis Christian University 30-1 in seven innings in Red River Athletic Conference play at Pilot Field.

With the victory, LSU Shreveport improved to 19-3 overall and remained perfect in league play at 7-0. Jarvis Christian fell to 0-14 overall and 0-7 in the RRAC.

The Pilots broke the game open early, plating four runs in the first inning before erupting for a massive 17-run second inning that put the contest firmly out of reach. LSU Shreveport continued to add on with four runs in the third, two in the fourth, and three more in the fifth to reach the 30-run mark in a game that lasted just under three hours.

LSUS finished the night with 30 runs on 15 hits while drawing 20 walks and taking advantage of Jarvis Christian pitching throughout the evening. Several Pilots contributed to the offensive outburst. Carlos Vega led the charge with three hits and four runs batted in, while Quaterrion Walton scored four times and drove in two. Makana Olaso also produced a big night with three RBIs, and Carlos Sanchez launched a home run as part of a two-hit, three-RBI performance.

Nathaniel De La Cruz added a two-run double, Spencer Sullivan homered and drove in a pair, and Bronson Neave collected three hits and two RBIs as the Pilots had production throughout the lineup.

On the mound, David Hankins earned the win after allowing just one run over four innings while striking out five. Luke Shelton and Jack Savitch combined for three scoreless innings of relief to close out the run-rule victory.

Jarvis Christian's lone run came in the sixth inning, while LSU Shreveport held the Bulldogs to just one hit in the contest.

The Pilots will look to complete the series sweep Friday afternoon when the teams meet for a doubleheader beginning at 2 p.m. at Pilot Field.
