LSUS Baseball Lands Nine on RRAC All-Conference Teams; Six Earn First Team Honors
SHREVEPORT, La. -- LSU Shreveport continued its outstanding 2026 campaign with nine players earning Red River Athletic Conference (RRAC) All-Conference recognition, highlighted by six First Team selections and three Second Team honorees, further cementing the Pilots as one of the league's top programs.
Leading the way for LSUS on the First Team are Carlos Vega (3B), Makana Olaso (OF), Carlos Sanchez (OF), Dorien Jackson (OF), Brock Lucas (P), and Jack Savitch (RP). Vega has been a steady force offensively, hitting .379 with 47 hits, 10 doubles, three triples, three home runs, and 40 RBIs. Olaso has powered the lineup with a .384 average, totaling 56 hits, 11 doubles, 15 home runs, and 58 RBIs. Sanchez has delivered one of the most complete seasons in the conference, batting .388 with 76 hits, 17 doubles, 13 triples, 11 home runs, 75 RBIs, and 35 stolen bases. Jackson has added a .342 average with 41 hits, five doubles, two triples, seven home runs, 32 RBIs, and 21 stolen bases. On the mound, Lucas has anchored the rotation with a 9-2 record, a 1.93 ERA, four complete games, and 102 strikeouts in 79.1 innings pitched, while Savitch has been effective out of the bullpen with a 1-0 record, a 2.28 ERA, and 23 strikeouts over 23.2 innings.
The Pilots also placed three players on the Second Team, including Quaterrion Walton (SS), Spencer Sullivan (OF), and David Hankins (SP). Walton has been a dynamic presence, hitting .372 with 55 hits, six doubles, seven triples, two home runs, 35 RBIs, and 35 stolen bases. Sullivan has contributed a .340 average with 50 hits, 12 doubles, three triples, two home runs, 38 RBIs, and 21 stolen bases. Hankins has been a reliable starter, posting a 7-1 record with a 3.14 ERA and 55 strikeouts across 66.0 innings pitched.
The All-Conference honors reflect the overall success of the Pilots this season, as LSUS holds a 38-12 overall record and a 20-7 mark in conference play while hitting .348 as a team with 543 hits and 451 RBIs. LSUS has outscored opponents 504-197 on the year and carries on in postseason play with a four-game winning streak.
LSUS will open the second round of the RRAC Baseball Championship Tournament on Saturday, May 2 against Texas A&M–Texarkana, with first pitch set for 5 p.m. as the Pilots continue their pursuit of a conference championship.
