SHREVEPORT, La. – The No. 14 LSU Shreveport men's soccer team opened Red River Athletic Conference play in dominant fashion on Thursday afternoon, earning a 3-0 victory over Texas A&M-Victoria at The Swamp. The win keeps the Pilots unbeaten on the season, improving to 3-0-5 overall and 1-0 in league play. The Jaguars dropped to 4-4 overall and 0-1 in the RRAC.
After a scoreless first half, the Pilots took control in the second. In the 49th minute, Jack Thomas connected with David Vejmose, who tucked away the opener. Thomas then doubled the lead in the 56th minute, finishing a pass from Carlos Oliveira. He struck again in the 68th minute, completing his brace off a setup from Jacob Botterill to secure the three-goal cushion.
LSUS was steady defensively as well. Goalkeeper Sondre Liahagen-Kolnes went 78 minutes with three saves, while Jordan Bidaisee closed out the match with 11 minutes of action and one save to help preserve the shutout.
For the Jaguars, goalkeeper Tyler Kaeppeli played 79 minutes with six saves before giving way to Eric Thust, who made three saves in the final 10 minutes.
The Pilots will continue conference play on Saturday, Sept. 27, when they host North American University at 3:30 p.m. in The Swamp.
