Pilots Soar Past A&M–San Antonio, 3-1, to Reach RRAC Title Match

TEXARKANA, Texas — No. 7 LSU Shreveport delivered a commanding performance on Monday evening, defeating Texas A&M University–San Antonio 3-1 in the Red River Athletic Conference Men's Soccer Championship semifinal at Judy Kelley Morgan Field.

The Pilots (13-1-5) took control early, opening the scoring in the 26th minute when Marcos De Elias converted a well-placed assist from Jack Thomas to give LSUS the lead. Just before halftime, the Pilots doubled their advantage as Jacob Botterill connected on a strike assisted by Joel Trueb in the 45th minute, sending LSUS into the break ahead 2-0.

The Pilots kept their momentum rolling into the second half when Thomas added a goal of his own in the 55th minute, finishing a setup from Botterill to make it 3-0. Texas A&M–San Antonio managed to pull one back in the 69th minute through Christian Guerrero, assisted by Ronald Aguilar, but the LSUS defense held firm the rest of the way.

Goalkeeper Sondre Liahagen-Kolnes went the full 90 minutes in goal for the Pilots, allowing one score. Marco Matranga stood tall for the Jaguars with nine saves but conceded three in the loss.

With the win, LSU Shreveport advances to the RRAC Championship Final and will face the winner of Xavier University of Louisiana and LSU Alexandria on Wednesday, November 12, at 1 p.m., at Judy Kelley Morgan Field, hosted by Texas A&M University–Texarkana.
