Pilots Edge Jaguars on Senior Day Thriller, 3-2

SHREVEPORT, La. – LSU Shreveport women's soccer closed out Senior Day in dramatic fashion on Saturday afternoon, defeating Texas A&M University-San Antonio, 3-2, in The Swamp. Prior to kickoff, LSUS Athletics honored seniors Jillian Rogers, Diana Leon, and Mada Uriarte for their leadership and lasting impact on the program.

The Pilots struck first in the 11th minute when Uriarte found the back of the net to give LSUS the early advantage. The senior wasn't done yet—she doubled the lead in the 62nd minute, finishing a setup from fellow senior Leon to make it 2-0.

Just seven minutes later, Lauren Mercer extended the Pilots' cushion to 3-0, seemingly putting the match out of reach. But the Jaguars mounted a late push, as Avry Scott converted twice in back-to-back minutes (82', 83') to trim the deficit to one. Despite the surge, LSUS held firm in the final stretch to secure the 3-2 victory.

In goal, Elena Lopez went the full 90 minutes for the Pilots, recording three saves on five shots faced. On the opposite end, TAMUSA's Isabella Villarreal handled the first half with one goal allowed and seven saves, while Vendela Lantz closed the second half with two goals allowed and three saves.

With the win, LSU Shreveport continues to build momentum heading into the final stretch of the regular season. The Pilots return to action on Thursday, Oct. 16, when they travel to Hawkins, Texas, to take on Jarvis Christian University. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m.
